This week I spoke with Newport County Vlogger @caitlinjjwebb to chat about all things County.

Hows your season been so far?

The start to the season was unreal, we were consistently top 5 until mid October. We went 10 games win-less and dropped, and continue to. We’re really struggling at the moment. We are in the most useless cup but it’s nice to say we’re 1 win away from Wembley.

Best Player

Best player is probably Josh Sheehan he picked up a bad injury on Saturday though!

Pantomime Villain?

Robbie Willmott unfortunately, me personally I like him, been with the club for years. Personally I’m not to sure why people don’t like Robbie. Makes no sense to me. He had man of the match on Saturday although none of them were good. Any little thing he does wrong people go nuts.

Favourite ever player?

Fave player of all time would either be Andrew Hughes, Aaron O’Connor or Mark O’Brien. Always liked Andrew Hughes, he was part of our promotion winning side, so most likely why I like him. Aaron O’Connor scored the second goal in our 2-0 play off final win in 2013 vs Wrexham. Mark O’Brien, as he scored a 89 minute winner to keep us in the football league. I can’t ever live that down.

Last season you missed out on promotion in the Play-off final, do you feel you can still sneak into the play-off’s this year and complete the fairy-tale under local lad and ex player Michael Flynn?

We’re currently 9 points off 3 games in hand. It’s possible definitely. If we went on a run like last season. But personally I doubt we will as I just don’t feel as though we’re good enough. Which is funny considering the majority of our squad is the same as last season.

Predictions for tonight?

We’re very unpredictable, I think today’s result will be a 1-0 win. Hopefully we will bounce back after our 2 consecutive losses

Finally, one random fact about your club?

In 1981 we made the last 8 of the European cup winners cup, the same year as Barcelona won it.

Thanks to Caitlin for answering those, we wish Newport the best of luck for the rest of the season ahead.

  • I think luck was on walsall side against forest green and some good defending ,but still we have got problems defending corners but we got the 3 points also no audio interview with Darrell Clarke after the game not heard any reason for that so let’s see if we can get 4 points from the next two games. Newport and Northampton. Alan
