We Live To Fight Another Day

|

Would you Adam and Eve it?

The Saddlers will travel to Shrewsbury next weekend knowing a win and results going our way could secure our League 1 status for next season.

Yesterday morning most Saddlers fans thought that by five o’clock we would be relegated to League 2 but a spirited display (first one this year) and results going our way meant the Saddlers lived to fight another day.

Goals from Andy Cook, Josh Gordon and an own goal from Lafferty have us a comfortable victory against a Posh side whose play-off hopes are all but over.

Lets be honest Peterborough rarely troubled the Walsall defence and when they did (through a fault of our own) Dan Scarr made a superb last ditch challenge to deny them.

One again Josh Gordon was absolutely superb all afternoon and whatever division we are in next season we are in safe hands from an attacking perspective. Whether it’s League 1 or League 2 you’d be confident that Gordon could score fifteen goals plus and should we be able to keep Andy Cook then it’s only the defence and midfield to worry about.

Despite talk of protests yesterday the fans turned up in numbers and backed the side as results started falling into place and the Saddlers playing with desire.

Yes we cannot forget what has happened over the past few weeks and months but for one week only we call on all fans to drop the negativity and anger – we are all in this together.

Maybe just maybe the greatest of all great escapes could happen at Shrewsbury next week.
