We return home!

|

1 year, 5 months and 7 days. That is how long is has been since Walsall last played a league game at home with the faithful there supporting the team. However finally, we are back!

A new feel

There is a real buzz and excitement amongst the fans about this team and the club as a whole. Leigh Pomlett has worked wonders with his appointment of Jamie Fullarton, and the resulting hiring of Matt Taylor. The new squad has also created intrigue, and that is with one or two players missing too.

There is a clear style and aim. The two games so far this season have ended with defeat, yet the feel is completely different. The players were clapped off the pitch for their efforts against both Tranmere and Doncaster, despite the first competitive victory of the season still eluding the team. The work rate, desire, and efforts to play football pleased the fans.

As well as the style, the feel of the team is different with the quality of player that has been brought in. Ash Taylor, Conor Wilkinson and Joss Labadie are all good quality players that in previous seasons, would not have been realistic signings. Pomlett has chosen Fullarton, and has back him too. As Chairman, he was unhappy, however changes have been made to change this, and the fans like what they see.

Fans there in their numbers

Ticket sales against both Forest Green, and Scunthorpe are looking very promising, and that is before the match day additions too. Bescot is sure to be bouncing, especially if Walsall can gain the victory. The Saddlers fans are always very vocal, and the team will have their backing throughout which will hopefully give them that extra spring in their step.

It is credit to the club that more season tickets have been sold year on year, especially given the financial implications on everyone due to Covid. It is also a huge credit to the fans themselves, who are rallying behind the club. Pomlett and Fullarton’s ruthlessness and their anger at the past couple of seasons has been a big reason for this.

The proof is in the pudding. Pomlett set out to overhaul how the club was being run, and he has done that. In turn, the fans have done their bit to support him and the club by buying tickets and merchandise.

Matchdays are back!

The pre game excitement, seeing friends and family, being a part of the support, we have all missed it. Finally the fans return, and the club have done their bit to try and improve matchday. The refurbished and extended bar in the lower will make pre match socialising much better, and make the day more enjoyable for the fans.

The club are also doing all they can to try and help with purchasing and collecting tickets. It may take a couple of weeks to iron out the wrinkles, but the club are trying to rectify issues.

The excitement leading towards today has been growing, and nothing will stop the fans enjoying their day, and more importantly, getting behind the team.
