19 year old Darryl Westlake has signed a 2 year deal today, promising his services until the end of the 2011/2012 season.

He joins Manny Smith, Richard Taundry, Alex Nicholls and Will Grigg in adding to Chris Hutchings squad list.

The right back, who made 24 appearances and won young player of the season last season, said that he learned alot last season and was pleasantly surprised by the number of appearances he racked up.

Speaking to the official site, he said: ‘I didn’t expect to play in as many games as I did and now I want to build upon it..the experienced lads really helped me and I would like to think that I’ve developed more of a vocal presence on the pitch.’

‘My aim now is to keep working hard and progressing; hopefully I will play even more games next season..league One is getting tougher every season and it will be a good challenge for us.’ He added

Darryl will bring young blood in the team and has already shown his potential last season as his performances showed determination and flair. I hope that he will start the season alive and kicking and give valuable to support at the back to keep the goals out!
