The Saddlers Carling Cup trail ended for this season with a 2-1 defeat at Accrington.

Walsall got off to a great start on eight minutes when a Jamie Vincent free-kick was volleyed in by striker Alex Nicholls.

Unfortunately, captain for the night Rhys Weston was shown a second yellow card, which soon led to a 53 minute equaliser from Bobby Grant, before Paul Mullen hit an injury time winner to condemn the Saddlers to defeat.

A disappointing result, which will hopefully give motivation for Saturday’s game with Southend.
