Let’s be honest did anyone expect that?

Forest Green Rovers went into the match unbeaten in their last nineteen and hadn’t lost at home in over five months….step forward new head coach Michael Flynn and his spirited Saddlers!

A goal from George Miller was enough to send the 610 traveling Saddlers fans home happy. Credit must go to the staff of Forest Green for getting the match on and for allowing us to get our first away win since November.

After our lowest moment and worst performance in the past few years (Scunthorpe) we have fully deserved our back to back wins over first and second in the league – the last time the Saddlers got back to back wins? You guessed it Tranmere and Forest Green.

Flynn reverted to his trusted 3-5-2 formation with Tyrese Shade surprisingly deputizing as a wing back and Osadebe playing behind Wilkinson and Miller. Devante Rodney also made his debut, nearly a month after joining from Port Vale.

The Saddlers now find ourselves in 16th place; a cushion of seven points from the relegation places and despite it being very early days it could be the start of looking up rather than down.

Trip to Swindon on Tuesday night before we all head to the Banks’s on Saturday as we entertain Hartlepool. Who knows what the last 16 games will bring however the last two results prove that these players are so much better than our league position suggests.
