When The Three Lions Faced Walsall

|

It’s coming home…..well we hope anyway.

Whilst the country continues to live in hope that we can win our first World Cup since 1966 we thought we would look at the current squad and see when they came face to face with the mighty Saddlers.

Jordan Pickford  – Faced the Saddlers in April 2014 whilst on loan at Carlisle United. On loan striker Michael Ngoo scored his one and only goal in Walsall colours as the Saddlers salvaged a point.

Jack Butland  – Butland was an unused substitute for Stoke City during our 3-1 League Cup defeat in 2013.

Gary Cahill  – Featured for Chelsea when they defeated us 4-1 in 2015 in the League Cup.

Harry Maguire – Probably England’s most influential player during the World Cup faced the Saddlers in April 2013 when we drew 1-1 with Sheffield United.

Ashley Young  – Young came on as a substitute during our 1-0 defeat against Watford in October 2003.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – Featured for Chelsea during their 4-1 win at Bescot Stadium in the League Cup in 2015.

Fabian Delph – Delph faced the Saddlers for Leeds United in October 2008 where we lost 3-0 at Elland Road. Delph scored a brace.

Dele Alli – Was part of the MK Dons side we defeated 3-0 in 2014.

Harry Kane – The most feared striker in the world turned out for Leyton Orient at Bescot in October 2011.

England Management

Martyn Margetson (England GK Coach) – Last faced the Saddlers whilst playing for Cardiff City in 2003. The Saddlers defeated Cardiff 1-0 thanks to a Neil Emblen goal.

Steve Holland (Assistant Manager) – Was First Team Coach at Crewe Alexandra when the Saddlers beat them in August 2008.
