Where was the Butler?

It seems that a snowball effect has started regarding the absence of Martin Butler from the Walsall squad against Carlisle United. Richard Money remained tight lipped but it’s now surfacing from various surfaces that the club have received a bid from Peterborough United (Westwood, Keates, McKeown). Apparently the Posh were keen on acquiring Butler during the summer but were put off by the transfer fee required for the contracted striker. As Richard Money dropped him from potential selection it would appear Butler is keen to speak to the Posh. But on the trail of this story it seems the money acquired will be put towards the transfer of more prolific Darren Byfield. The ‘wantaway’ striker has now questioned his future at the New Den, it was mutually decided he wouldn’t appear on the Milwall team photograph and he too wasn’t considered for squad selection for Millwall’s opener at Doncaster. One of the biggest stumbling blocks in the Byfield transfer has always been his wages, but wage money freed up by Butler’s possible departure would seem to solve this matter.
