Walsall boss Jon Whitney believes his side are very close to stepping upto the next level and believes the consistency is shaping his squad into a successful team.

The Saddlers have now gone three games unbeaten and have just lost once in the last six in all competitions.

Walsall now face League 1 leaders Scunthorpe and League 1 favourites Millwall.

Speaking to Express and Star, Whitney said

“In the past few games we have stepped up our consistency,” Whitney said. “But now I think we aren`t far off from stepping up to the next level where we really control games.

‘That is what we will be looking to do over the next two games which are both mouth-watering home games. As a team we are creating chances.’

“Our front five are doing really well and our back five are defending resolutely when needed. They are the ingredients of a successful team.’
