Whitney hoping for one more signing

With the transfer window coming to a close this week, Walsall boss Jon Whitney has reiterated his desire to add one more signing to his squad. The Saddlers face Plymouth Argyle in the first fixture following the transfer window and with the inability to sign loan players until January, Whitney knows the squad that faces Plymouth on Saturday will likely be the same one that travels to Home Park in the reverse fixture on New Year’s Day.

Speaking to the Express & Star Whitney said:

“I`m still looking – we`d like one more before the window closes.

“We are still working really hard and the chairman has been fantastic at allowing me to bring players in.’

The most pressing area for improvement would either be in central midfield, or in wide areas if Whitney needs to change from his preferred formation.

It’s also important to remember that Matty Fryatt is still training with the club and could prove to be a stellar signing if Whitney can work him back to full fitness.
