Walsall boss Jon Whitney felt last nights victory was well deserved and a credit to his young side.

Speaking to Express and Star Jon Whitney said

“I think it was a deserved victory,”

“Fleetwood are big hitters in this league. Uwe (Rosler) says they except to be play-offs.’

“But I think the manner of their second goal, a lot of team`s heads would drop after that.’

“When you are 2-1 you can always make it a bit more difficult and stop them from having chances.’

“The manner of their second goal was disappointing. But we responded really well and finished strong.’

Whitneys first sub of the evening was not welcomed from the home fans with many chanting ‘you dont know what youre doing’ followed by ‘Whitney out chants’ however the manager did confirm he replaced Zeli Ismail with Reece Flanagan due to the former Wolves man having tight hamstrings.

Whitney does seem to get a victory when its most needed and last night was no different, the Saddlers now move to 15th in the League 1 table with exactly the same amount of points as we accumulated at this point last year.
