Walsall boss Jon Whitney has come out with a heartfelt message today insisting he is proud to be manager of Walsall FC and vows to give his all in order to succeed.

Speaking to Express and Star Whitney said

“I am immensely proud to be the manager of this football club,” he said.

“It has been incredible. I have been in charge almost two years now and I`m incredibly determined to be successful as a manager. My physio tag will always be there.

“But I see myself as a coach now and I`m really confident I can take this club forward.

“I have been here nearly 14 years. I understand the club, I understand what we are.

The Saddlers travel to Doncaster tomorrow having failed to win in our last six games which coincides with a run which we have won just four times in the last twenty four, however Whitney remains defiant that he can turn it around.

“The fans I understand. They pay their money and are entitled to their opinions.

“I have always been a grafter in life,”

“I`ll be honest every day and I`ll keep a positive environment for my players.

‘I am open and honest and I try to improve every single day.”

If the Saddlers fail to get a victory at lowly Doncaster tomorrow then the chants towards the manager will only intensify. It really does start to feel like last chance saloon for Jon Whitney.
