Walsall manager Jon Whitney has been installed as joint second favourite to land the vacant Peterborough job according to Sky Bet.

Peterborough sacked manager Grant McCann late last night and have already began their search for his replacement.

Caretaker boss David Oldfield is currently favourite at 8/1 however Jon Whitney has joined Alan Stubbs, Danny Cowley and Mark Warburton at 12/1.

It comes as a surprise as Whitney has not pulled up any trees at the Saddlers, since taking over from Sean O’Driscoll and Walsall are still in a relegation dog fight.

Whitney has won thirty seven, drawn twenty nine and lost thirty nine games in his spell as Walsall boss.

The Saddlers travel to Peterborough tomorrow evening.

I think quite a lot of Saddlers fans would drive Whitney to Peterborough themselves if there was any truth to the the link.
