Jon Whitney was speaking to the Official Walsall FC website after Saturday`s 2-1 victory against Northampton Town.
The Saddlers manager, who was starting to come under increasing pressure before the recent unbeaten run, praised the never say die attitude of his players.
“It`s important to never know when you are beaten,” said Whitney. “You`ve got teams all over the pyramid, even in the Premier League, that when they go behind, their heads go.
“That shows a lack of resilience, but we`ve got that here. In the past we haven`t come back from behind many times, but we`ve come back twice now in the last two weeks. “What`s good now is that if we do fall behind, the lads know they`ve come back before and that they can do it again.”
Walsall will need to show all their recent resilience in abundance with two difficult away trips on the horizon, to high-flying Bolton Wanders and Scunthorpe United.
However, the Saddlers will go into the games with no pressure and a couple of decent results in these games could help maintain an unlikely play-off push.
Do you agree that we`re starting to see a more ‘resilient` Walsall side?
