Whitney praise for Oztumer

Most of the best moments under Jon Whitney’s management at Walsall has been provided from the feet of playmaker Erhun Oztumer. The diminutive midfielder once again stood out on Saturday’s as he fired an unstoppable strike against his former side to put the Saddlers in front.

Speaking to the Express & Star , Whitney, said:

‘Erhun scored a great goal against Peterborough but we know he is capable of that.’

‘It was nice for him against his former club, if you ask him who he’d most like to score against it would be Peterborough.’

Whilst Oztumer is mainly known for his long-range strikes, Whitney has been pleased with different type of goal that he has been scoring this season.

‘He can now score all types of goals.

‘He has scored a two-yard tap-in this season. He has scored from outside the box and against Peterborough he has scored from inside the box with a great finish into the roof of the net.’

Oztumer will once again be looking to be the focal point for the Saddlers on Saturday, as they travel to Oxford United looking for a first away victory in 2017.
