Walsall boss Jon Whitney was a delighted man following Saddlers 3-0 away victory over Doncaster on Saturday.

Whitney felt his side handled the weather much better than the hosts and admitted his side were lucky after Doncaster hit the post before Marquis missed an open goal but said we took our chances.

Speaking to Express and Star Whitney said

“You have got be clinical away from home,” he said.

“I think we handled the elements better than them. It was difficult. The wind was swirling, you can`t really get out.

The Saddlers recorded their first clean sheet in all competitions in twenty games to finally shake off the doubters

“It`s always difficult facing a strong wind, psychologically as well it`s difficult to get out your own half.

“But we handled it well in the first half. We were a little bit lucky, they hit the post. But we dug in.

‘But we knew we would get the upper hand in the second half.

‘But you still have to take your chances which we did.”

The Saddlers just four points off the play offs there should be a little bit of optimism amongst supporters.
