Walsall interim head coach Jon Whitney has today expressed how proud he is of his team following their 1-0 victory over Fleetwood last night.
Despite the change of formation they came out on top and Whitney has also said Wigan, Barnsley and Millwall players will have sat at home last night with a cuppa and a biscuit and would be disappointed that we won!
Speaking after the game, Whitney said ‘Anything can happen, it’s 10 games now,’
‘We said if we’re in the running with 10 to play that’s where we want to be.’
‘We’ve got our training ground back, the weather is turning, we’ve got nearly a full squad.’
‘You’ve got to imagine now your Wigan players, your Milwall players, Barnsley, they’ll be sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea and a biscuit tonight.’
‘We’ve disappointed them and we want to keep disappointment. ‘We want to keep doing that and keep proving people wrong, people who say ourselves and Burton can’t do it.’
‘It’s about the desire and the passion and if you’ve got that you’ll be successful. I’m really proud of the lads ‘They’ve come out on top after a tough start and a change of formation, I’m really proud of them.’
