Walsal interim head coach Jon Whitney expects his future to be sorted in the coming days but admitted he feels a head coach role is within his capabilities.
Whitney took over from Sean O’Driscoll in March and steered the Saddlers to a third placed finish with a record of eighty four points however many have questioned his technical ability having seen his side demolished by Barnsley in the play offs.
Whitney told the Express and Star,
“My future will be decided in the next few days,”
“I am keen to carry on if it is right for me and right for the club but I am not going to make a decision yet – I am going to keep my options open and see what happens.
“The whole experience has been fantastic and I have learnt an incredible amount. It`s been a steep learning curve but it`s one that I have enjoyed.
“Whether I carry on as a manager or as a performance coach – that is what I need to sit down over the next few days and look at.
“But I am proud at what I have achieved this season and believe being a head coach is well within my capabilities’
