Wise Not In Frame For Walsall Job As New Favourite Emerges

|

Former Chelsea captain Dennis Wise WILL NOT be taking over the reins at Walsall following the sacking of Dean Keates last month.

Wise odds plummeted on Sky Bet following sightings of him at McDonald’s on the Bescot Retail Park however despite the sightings being accurate he was indeed there as his Indonesian youth side were playing against a Walsall Academy side.

One man that is still in the running is former Bristol Rovers boss Darrell Clarke.

Clarke’s odds have shortened from 3/1 into 5/4 favourite.

Clarke has previously won promotion from the Conference and League 2 with Bristol Rovers.

The current top ten in the betting are as follows (with Wise currently 5/2 excluded)

Darrell Clarke – 5/4

Keith Hill – 7/4

Martin O’Connor – 10/1

Stephen Robinson – 12/1

Darren Moore – 16/1

Dave Challinor – 16/1

Kevin Nolan – 16/1

Paul Hurst – 16/1

Shaun Derry – 16/1

Tim Flowers – 16/1

The Express and Star have reported that they expect Walsall to appoint a new manager before May 18th – as this is when the retained/released lists must be given to the EFL ahead of the 2019/2020 season.
