It was a tale of two halves as the Saddlers dug in deep to take three points from their trip to the South coast. The Saddlers dominated the first half and took the lead after thirty minute mark when a deep cross by Rhys Weston was header into his own net by former Saddlers target Andrew Whing.

Brighton were a changed team in the second half and brought on Nicky Forster into a now three man pronged attack. The Saddlers had to defend for long period – former Saddler Mark Wright was being given far too much time of the right wing as he beat Vincent time after time. Forster headed Brighton’s best effort over the bar just after the hour mark and the Saddlers held out to continue their impressive opening day win ratio.
