Worst Performance Of The Season See Saddlers Lose To Luton

|

The Saddlers turned in their worst performance of the season as our away day unbeaten run came to an end.

Most Saddlers fans took to Twitter last night describing the performance as “abysmal” with someone even labelling it “whitneyesque”!

Lets not be too critical of a side that until yesterday had won four and drawn two of our opening six away games and let’s not lose hope losing to a side that are just formidable at home. There needs to be a reaction on Tuesday night and when the players and manager have asked for a reaction, we have got one.

Goals from Rea and Grant was enough for Luton but it simply could have been more. The stats don’t lie that we gave an inform side too much time of the ball, which they punished us for.

Im still left scratching my head as to why Kieron Morris isn’t being given a run in the side. His goals and performances lately have warranted a place in the side, a side which are not scoring many goals or creating many chances.

The Saddlers have now lost three games in our last six and there’s a worry that our fine start to the season could be withering away.

Our record against the top half sides needs addressing if we are to stay amongst the chasing pack – currently we have played four, won zero, drawn one and lost three. However against the bottom twelve sides we have won six and drawn three.

Keates has performed a minor miracle since taking over and I think some are losing perspective of what we have achieved so far – even so early on in the season, a mid table finish is still respectable given the mess he inherited.

Dont lose hope. Don’t lose your heads. I’m sure there will be many more twists and turns as the season pans out.
