You might forgive Saddlers wing wizzard Darren Wrack for being excited about pre-season, but it is the 31-year-old’s first build-up for two seasons.
The former Derby and Grimsby man broke his leg the last time around in League One away at Yeovil, and was out for over a year.
He came back mid-way through last season to contribute towards our famous title success of recent years.
Wrack has been training hard and cannot wait for the start of the pre-season fixtures, when he and his team-mates step out against Worcester on Sunday afternoon.
He told the club’s website: ‘We’re all looking forward to the game tomorrow and it will be a decent test.
‘When the pre-season games start you know that the season is only around the corner and that’s obviously what we’re working towards.’
Wrack was speaking after he and his fellow team-mates had been training at the National Sports Centre last week, to which he said were very productive.
He added: ‘It’s been a good week.
‘We’ve been going on an early morning run at seven o’clock before training at about 11.
‘The sessions have been really varied with the Gaffer taking coaching sessions and taking us through different ball exercises.’
Walsall face Worcester at St. Georges Lane on Sunday (KO 3pm), as the lads hope to get the pre-season off to a good start with a productive and solid win.
