At last nights fans focus meeting it was asked about the future of Walsall striker Andy Cook, the club confirmed contract negotiations will take place shortly.

Cook signed a two year deal last summer and still has eighteen months remaining on his current deal however the club have confirmed that fresh contract negotiations will be taking place very soon to try and tie the striker down on a longer term deal.

Cookie has been a revelation since arriving from Tranmere in the summer – scoring fifteen goals to date and becoming a fans favourite.

The club have history with regards to letting contracts dwindle down and allowing our best players leave for next to nothing or nothing at all as the case was with Erhun Oztumer but you do get the feeling that they have learned their lessons and will try to convince Cookie that the Banks’s Stadium is the place to be.
