Dean Smith has praised the Saddlers for their fantastic turn in fortune but warned Walsall must build on their good form going into the last 7 games of the season.

The state of the Saddlers at the turn of the year would make any prospective manager tremble with fear, but Smith says nothing is out of the question.

He told The Birmingham Mail: ‘ “If I had looked at our run-in at the start of the season it would have scared the life out of me. But looking how those clubs are doing now I am excited by it.’

Walsall have a clear 3 points above 22th place Bristol Rovers and agonisingly sit just below Dagehnam and Redbridge with 1 less point.

Smith added:’It`s nice to be looking over our shoulder now and seeing Plymouth and Swindon six or seven points below us.’

Walsall continue their assault on relegation next week away to Plymouth.

The draws against MK Dons, Swindon and Yeovil highlighted that, although the performances have improved, it’s the three points that are most vital.

Smith told the Express and Star: ‘”I don`t think a point a game will be enough. We will need a couple of wins out of the seven certainly with some more results as well.’

There’s a massive green light above the Banks’s for the fight for survival. The current Saddler squad deserve success so watch this space!

Up The Saddlers!
