Walsall boss Dean Smith today penned a 12 month extension onto his current deal, meaning the popular manager dubbed ‘Ginger Mourinho’ will now be contracted to Walsall until the Summer of 2016.
During Smith’s reign, Walsall have proved a tough nut to crack playing some beautiful football along the way and the long term future of the club is a lot brighter than it was before Smith took over in January 2011.
In his first season, Dean Smith guided Walsall to the great escape having been relegation favourites at Christmas.
During his next season Smith was instrumental again in keeping Walsall from the trap door and then last season there was a shift in mentality and direction from all at WFC which has continued into this season.
Currently this season, Walsall are 4 points from a play-off position.
Walsall have now changed their mentality with running the club and it would be foolish not to thank Stefan Gamble who has changed alot since he took over as CEO.
Smith also confirmed that now his future is sorted he also wants to sort the future of assistant boss Richard O’Kelly.
