Clarke Can’t Wait To Get Going At A Brilliant Club

|

New Walsall Manager Darrell Clarke said he cannot wait to get started as he begins his reign.

Clarke who has won promotion four times in eight years said it’s his hope to get players giving their all for the badge and for putting smiles back on the faces of Walsall fans who he hails as “brilliant”

Speaking on his first day in the job Clarke said

“I can’t wait to get started,”

“I am excited by the challenge that lies ahead. This is a great club and I can’t wait to get my teeth into the task at hand.”

“The club have had a couple of disappointing seasons and we now find ourselves in League Two. I want to give these brilliant fans something to shout about, put a smile on their faces and give them a team that will give their all for the club and the badge.”

“I like my teams to be on the front foot and play attractive, attacking football with the ability to adapt to different scenarios.”

“I know all about the division we are in, I’ve had success at League Two level before and I want to bring the good times back. I will work tirelessly to achieve our shared goals.”

Many Bristol Rovers fans have taken to our Twitter account to say how highly regarded Clarke is within their fanbase having gained back to back promotions with the club.

Clarke’s first job will be to decide which players he will retain/release – with that list due to be submitted to the EFL by next Friday.

His second job will be to decide on the fate of the backroom staff. Will Marcus Stewart join the club as number two who worked so well with him at Rovers? Will Davies and Oakes stick around?

Clarke will face the media for the first time on Tuesday at 10am.
