Despite Winning Comfortably Boss Wanted To Kill Them Off

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates has today admitted that his team could have made life easier for themselves despite winning 3-1 at Tranmere last night.

The Saddlers made it through to the Carabao Cup Second Round for the first time in two seasons but the boss wanted his players to “kill them off”.

Walsall were victorious thanks to goals from Morgan Ferrier, Zeli Ismail and Josh Ginnelly.

Speaking to Express and Star, Keates said

“I think we could have made things a bit easier,”

“We had a lot of chances and didn’t really kill them off.”

“I thought in the second half we broke well, we broke at pace. We scored a good couple of goals.”

“But we would have liked to have made it easier for ourselves.”

Its refreshing to see the manager still asking for more from his players just like last night it was refreshing to see players barking out orders and showing their frustrations at wayward passes despite being 3-1 up.

It has been a long time since we have seen this winning mentality from everyone at Walsall and long may it continue.

The Saddlers now return to league action as we face Gillingham at the Banks’s Stadium on Saturday hoping to make it four unbeaten.
