Paul Merson has had permission to use on loan midfielder Eric Skora in their FA Cup tie against Yeovil refused because Preston don’t want the player cup tied.

Merson told the official site: ‘Obviously it’s a massive blow not to have Eric available for Saturday. He has done well for us in recent games, but Preston do not want him to become Cup-tied and we have to respect their wishes.’

A further blow has been deal with the news that Michael Standing has aggravated his hamstring injury and won’t be able to provide cover.

Merson says ‘we will have to reshuffle the midfield because he was a serious candidate to come in for Eric. But we will be working hard on our new system over the next couple of days.’

On-loan goalkeeper Joe Murphy is also ruled out as is James Constable who is cup tied, although he would have missed the game anyway due to his suspension for picking up five yellow cards.
