Goalkeeper search coming to an end

With all the transfer uncertainty over the past couple of summers, one thing that most Saddlers fans are not too concerned about is the recruitment of a new goalkeeper. The main reason for that is quite simply down to our Goalkeeping Coach, Neil Cutler.

Cutler’s track record in his time at the Banks’s is simply outstanding. On two occasions, with Richard O’Donnell and Neil Etheridge, Cutler has transformed a talented but underperforming goalkeeper into one of the best in the division. Not only does that record give confidence to the supporters, but it should hopefully make a move to Walsall more attractive to potential signings.

It looks likely that the new Saddlers number one will be unveiled in the very near future, with Cutler having spoken with Express & Star journalist, Joe Masi, over the weekend – as revealed on Twitter

The question is whether Cutler can again work his magic, and also the club should at least be looking to make a profit from his work, as both Etheridge and O’Donnell have departed on free transfers after seeing out their two-year contracts.

Rumours have been circulating that ex-Burton ‘keeper Jon McLaughlin could be the new arrival, and at 29 years of age would require a bit less work than the two previous incumbents.

Who do you think the new goalkeeper will be?
