Manager Chris Hutchings has spoken out today at his discontent of Deeney’s handling of his exit of the Banks’s Stadium.

On Monday, Deeney gave interviews over the rejected bids for him and speculated that he had already handed in a transfer request, but no official request was handed in to the club until Tuesday afternoon.

In addition, the request did not come from the striker directly, instead by his agents, and Hutchings feels he should of discussed it with him before.

Speaking to the Express and Star, he said: ‘I found it quite strange that he hasn`t knocked on my door and said ‘I`ll be handing a transfer request in.’

“It remains behind closed doors if we talk to him but it was disappointing.” He said.

Hutchings also stated that Walsall has done nothing wrong in the dealings of the bids, which is at odds of Deeney’s comments that the club have not handled it in ‘a mature and professional manner.’ (As reported on Vital Walsall, Mon 2 Aug)

“What we have done is keep him informed, a club has made offers and they`ve been rejected.’ He added to the Express and Star.

This leaves a dilemma for Hutchings, as to whether he plays in the season opener against MK Dons on Saturday.

Hutchings continued: ‘”If he`s employed by this football club, yes. He has trained hard and if nothing has happened he will be available for the games.’
