Defender-cum-midfielder Richard Taundry has expressed his desire to one day emulate Saddlers number two Martin O’Connor and become a Walsall legend.

The 20-year-old broke through into the first-team last year, playing in a variety of positions during his 38 appearances.

However, Taundry wants to push on again next season and become a household name at the Bescot.

Taundry told the Express and Star: “Growing up as a Walsall fan he was one of my favourite players. I can see similarities between him and me.

“We`re both Walsall lads and he had an aggressive style of play, which is how I am as a player.

“It`s important that clubs have local players, who the fans can really relate to.”

Taundry is contracted for another year with the club and will look to help our push for the top six next season.
