We have wrote on a number of occasions about James Constable, and he’s ability and future potential has been discussed in pubs all over the Walsall area, with saddler fans divided in opinion.

Over the weekend we noted his performance and yet another goal in Kidderminsters win over York City. A game which saw James share the pitch with the highly sort after Donaldson whos 18 goals this season has seen plenty of transfer speculation about a 200k plus move to the football league. The result was that James out shone Donaldson, with Beano scoring whilst Donaldson collected a red card.

Rumours were about with Kidderminster keen to extend his loan spell and others keeping an eye out for an opourtunity to grab a goalscorer. Colin Lee at Torquay and Bristol Rovers have been reported to be keeping an eye on his Kidderminster exploits. Today vital Hereford have described him as the new Steve Bull. Whilst this is flattering I doubt many Saddlers fans would have described him in this way. But if the rumour is true then Graham Turner is yet another convert to the James Constable fan club.

In the end James is a Walsall player and we will do the best to ensure that he develops in the right way. However DD has spoken on balancing the need to let him battle for a first team shirt at Walsall whether that is now or later in the season. If an extended loan or a loan to another club is on the cards it may not hurt Walsalls prospects if he is allowed to score a few goals against our promotion rivals whilst wearing a different coloured shirt. We would have a 24hour recall I would imagine anyway.

I can see a similar situation developing with Alex Nicholls who has shown his fitness in a good display against Boldmere. He has that quality which is highly sort after…Pace, so a spell on loan may also be around the corner now he has recovered from injury.
