Out of contract defender James Chambers, today revealed that he is close to signing a new deal to remain at Walsall for next season.

Speaking to the Express and Star Chambers said, “I would like to stay, I know it`s easy to say now.

“It`s local and I enjoy it here, so all being well, things will progress and it will all be sorted out soon’

“I`m just looking now to next season and pushing on looking to get a full season under my belt.

“When you realise the ability that is here and you train with these players day in, day out, it is no surprise we finished where we did in the league.”

Chambers played in 26 games for the Saddlers last season predominantly at right back although he can play on the left if required.

It is hoped that once James Chambers pens a new deal his brother Adam will follow suit.

We still await news on Febian Brandy and Will Grigg, with the former linked to Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday recently.
