In the preview to the postponed game we also featured James Hayter as the player to watch. However at the time the feeling was that it could well have been the last time we saw James Hayter at Bescot in a Cherries shirt. Bristol City had tried to tempt James away from the fitness first stadium with a bid for him in the January window. This was knocked back but it looked like it was only a matter of time before James moved on. It was a surprise then to everyone out side of Bournemouth when he signed a new two-year contract extension earlier in the month.

The partnership with Fletcher up front is vital to Bournemouth’s survival hopes. In fact it has been noticeable that whilst this striking duo have been split due to injury goals and points have been harder to come by. This season James Hayter has hit the net 18 time including a hat trick against Blackpool to take his career league total to 81 goals. with a strike rate of 0.26. A impressive strike rate at any level in fact in some ways he reminds me of our past goal poacher Alan Buckley, lets hope he doesn’t remind me of him on Tuesday.
