Ryan McGivern has said that despite their woes, manager Chris Hutchings has kept the atmosphere upbeat.

He told the Express and Star: ‘Spirits throughout this season have not dipped and it`s full credit to the gaffer for that.”

Walsall are languishing in the relegation slots after a dismal run of defeats, but the Manchester City man says it has not let the atmosphere suffer. For this reason, he gives Hutchings his full backing.

‘The manager is judged on results and we are all aware of that and, with the few amount of games we have won, the fans are bound to have a go at the manager…but I am in his company every day and he never let the pressure show but kept us all smiling in training. The spirit here has never dipped.’

The 20 year old, who has never appeared for the first team for Manchester City, has given thanks to Walsall for giving him a chance, which he hopes will help him with his chances at the Premier League giants.

He concluded: ‘I am loving this experience, it`s invaluable…it`s obviously going to be tough to make progress at Manchester City but I intend to go back there next summer and try to make my mark.”
