Mini – Championship

Most pundits are predicting that the division will be split in two – the teams looking to the Championship and the ones fighting financial constraints and relegation. Where will Walsall finish – personally don’t know – but Hutchings then goes on to promote season tickets by adding that they need to turn the Banks’ Stadium into a Fortress next season and get bums back on seats.

It doesn’t take a genius to work out that Saddlers’ fans were let down last season – the football under Mullen was abysmal matched only by some embarrassing results notably against Hartlepool and Huddersfield Town. Which other set of fans in the division could be as stressed as a Walsall fan even though they’re two nil up?

Last news is that Hutchings has once again stated that he’s not going to be able to table new bids or make contract offers for new players until the current batch of players offered new contracts make up their minds. This seems quite frustrating as Walsall seem to be missing out on a few of the early bird deals – for example local Midlander Chris Hinton released by Bristol Rovers has just signed for Northampton – with the former Harrier able to play centre half and right back he would have seemed a perfect signing.
