All the new boys were given a run out in Saturday’s defeat to Barnsley in a behind closed doors friendly on Saturday.

In a 4-3-3 formation, new goalkeepers Bevan and Brain shared the goal, playing one half each. Aaron Lescott played 75 minutes, and Oliver Lancashire the first half in defence.

Paul Marshall played alongside Matthew Richards and youngster Sean Geddes in midfield.

The Saddlers had lots of shots on goal, but championship Barnsley were too strong competition, however plenty of heart can be taken from the performance.

Walsall were 1-0 down at half time thanks to an Andy Gray goal. Liam Dickinson and Martin Devaney followed up in the second half for the Tykes.
