Morrell deal not dead.

Once news broke that Andy Morrell was hoping that Colin Calderwood would follow up the interest he had shown in the Coventry striker when he was at Northampton and take him to his new club Notts Forest. Many Saddlers fans thought it was the end of the line for the Morrell deal, not so apparently.

Whilst Morrell would favour a move to Nottingham, he knew he would have to fight for a first team place. However things have got a little more complicated. Injured strikers Scott Dobbie and David Johnson appear to be recovering well, although Colin Calderwood states that he will not rush either player back too quickly. Competition for a starting line is great unless either of these two move on. So would Forest invest in a fifth striker…well the noise out of the county ground is possible not as pressure is been brought to bear to give youth a chance, so Morrell would definately not fit the bill.

So where does that leave Andy Morrell, well if Johnson or Dobbie move a door may open, otherwise it would mean traveling more than he states he wants too, or drop a division for first team football with the saddlers.

Another option maybe Northampton who have lost a striker, and John Gorman is still assessing the squad, he may follow up Colin Calderwoods initial approach. However pre season training has strated and Andy Morrell will be wanting to settle his future sooner rather than later, this will be the last move of his career!!!
