The young forward turned midfielder has spoken out on a mixed bag of performances this season, and wants his season to end on a good note.

Nicholls, 22, speaking on the BBC website said: ‘I thought I was doing OK when I was playing up front, then he’s put me on the right.’

He has only started 12 games this season, compared to 39 starts in the 2008-2009 campaign, due to fierce competition from Darren Byfield and Steve Jones.

I’m champing at the bit, I want to play every game now, from now until the end of the season.’ He added.
