Richard O’Kelly today quit his post as First Team coach at Bristol City and potentially opening up a return to WS1.

O’Kelly left Walsall earlier this season to join his old friend Sean O’Driscoll.

This was the second time O’Kelly left the Saddlers. His first exit was to become manager of Hereford United but once their relegation to the Conference was confirmed, O’Kelly returned to Walsall.

His latest club, Bristol City were also relegated and will now face The Saddlers next season.

O’Kelly is rumoured to have struggled commuting between his home in the West Midlands and Bristol City’s training base.

Its astonishing really that O’Kelly left his position at Hereford United due to commuting issues – yet he left Walsall to go Bristol which is just as difficult to get to!

I for one wouldnt want to see Richard O’Kelly back at Walsall following his decision to leave us on far too many occasions.

However we still require a Number 2 and Smith always felt that O’Kelly was a major part of his rebuilding job here and you would imagine the pair have already contacted each other!
