1) Upsetting the form guide.

This one probably isn’t that unknown. The Saddlers were winless on the road in 2017 before Saturday, whilst Oxford were unbeaten at home this season. Jon Whitney’s men turned the form book on its head with the 2-1 victory, and the most pleasing aspect for supporters was the positive and impressive performance to go with the result.

2) Roberts comes back to haunt the Yellows.

Tyler Roberts has quite simply been a revelation since his loan move to the Banks’s Stadium, and on Saturday he returned to the club where he had his first loan spell. Roberts’ time at Oxford wasn’t particularly fruitful however, and after 14 games without a goal the frontman returned to his parent club in January 2017. In addition to his goal on Saturday, Roberts’ all round game looked in excellent order and that can only bode well for upcoming fixtures.

3) Are wingers the way forward?

More specifically, is 4-2-3-1 the way to go? The Saddlers fielded two orthodox wingers for the 1st time in a league match since a 0-0 draw with Southend United in November 2016, and it worked very well – especially in the first half. Zeli Ismail looks a good signing, whilst Kieron Morris looked a lot more at home operating from wide areas. More of the same please, Jon.
