Walsall are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected following the clash with Southend.

The performance by Erhun Oztumer in the three nil victory over Southend United at the weekend at Roots Hall was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Oztumer was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Walsall`s diminutive number 10 netted a second-half hat-trick against the Shrimpers, as the Saddlers bounced back from successive defeats in League One.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Oztumer for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Jason Steele (Sunderland), Kean Bryan (Oldham Athletic), Mark Ellis (Carlisle United), Brad Halliday (Cambridge United), Joe Lolley (Nottingham Forest), Stefan Johansen (Fulham), Luke Russe (Bristol Rovers), Erhun Oztumer (Walsall), Patrick Bamford (Middlesbrough), Bobby Reid (Bristol City), Sean Maguire (Preston North End).

Manager – Ritchie Wellens (Oldham Athletic).
