New boy Reuben Reid has said he is happy at the Banks’s and glad that he has been given the opportunity to play at Walsall.

He says that he has not been given the opportunities to play as much as he likes and that he just wants to play regularly and score goals.

The 22 year old has seen a rocky career so far, with 6 loan clubs at 3 permanent clubs. Reid signed a two year contract in August 2009 for West Bromwich Albion, but made just 2 league cup starts and four championship appearances as substitute, before being loaned out to Peterborough. He joins the Saddlers on loan until January.

It did not take long for Reid to make his mark at the Banks’s, starting against Plymouth Argyle after arriving just 2 days prior and scored the winner. He came off after 83 minutes to a standing ovation.

Reid told the official site: ”I’m happy that my debut went well..I was also quite pleased with my own performance.’

The striker admits that he is not 100% match fit, adding: ‘As I was leaving the field I was concentrating on getting off alive as I was really blowing at that point, but to hear the applause of the crowd gave me a big lift.’

He concluded: ‘I need to get back into the swing of things. I’ve not played as much as I would have liked over the past year..I am thankful to Walsall for giving me this opportunity and I just want to work hard and prove that I am worthy of a place in the team.’
