Last season one poll voted Rochdale as the best away trip of the season. Suprised I was my memeory of a trip to Spotland didn’t inspire much motivation, but things have changed.

Pubs wise there are four really close to the ground to choose from.

The Ratcliffe Arms- Has changed ownership in the last few years, it welcomes both home and away fans although this can change if trouble is expected. Serves J W Lees beer but last season was one of the cheapest pints around.

Studds Bar – actually can’t get much closer to Spotland it is under the stand, although it welcomes both home and away fans it seems to be more of a home bar also like the Bescot Bar it can get a little bit full so if you want a seat take root early.

The Church Inn – In need of a prey for three away points the Church could be the place. Although don’t get fooled by the Wilsons sign it is now a John Smiths pub. It is found behind the WMG Stand and welcomes away fans in fact it has rave reviews from regular league two travelers. Also if this rain stops it has an outside drinking area and is family friendly!!!

Cementry Inn – also known as the Cementry Hotel to some, it is a regular in the CAMARA Guide for its beer and surroundings. It is found a ten minute walk up Sandy lane. If you want if you walk furter on there is the Merrie Monk, which is also in the Camara guide, if you really want come back down Mellor Road and you pass the Church Inn before getting to Spotland….another late arrival guys!!!
