The Saddler’s woes have not eased tonight after a 3-0 drubbing thanks to a Josh McQuoid hattrick.

Despite Saddler attempts to alleviate pressure from the playoff contenders, they could not recover from the opening goal in the first half.

A referee crisis at half time delayed the second half, but play soon resumed, much to Saddler fans’ apprehension.

A slow start to proceedings as the final 45 minutes opened, and the game halted as Richard Taundry required some treatment, but he thankfully played on. Julian Gray then went off to be replaced by Alex Nicholls.

McQuoid’s second goal came on 69 minutes when the defence was nowhere to be seen and he easily slotted past Jimmmy Walker. Steve Jones came on for Paul Marshall soon after. A quiet game then continued marched on before McQuiod finalised Walsall woes on 87 minutes, when the ball found the back of the net.

And that was it, not much to report in a day to forget for the Saddlers. Hutchings constant chopping and changing of the squad is doing them no favours as they struggle to recover from setbacks. Walsall will now train tomorrow ahead of Tuesday’s replay of the FA Cup first round, at home against Fleetwood Town.
