Saddlers down seagulls

Oh didn’t we have a lovely time, the day we went to th e seaside, as we do love to be by the sea. The footballing gods smiled on the Saddlers as many will wake this morning with hangovers following the hard earnt victory which makes things look rather grim for Colin Lee’s men.
At the start of the day however despite the bright sunshine and the monopoly of the Boot’s and Laces supporters club things didn’t look to bright at all. Kevin Harper and Kevin Cooper along with Hector Sam were all ruled out. Of course defense was short of Picken Roper and Dann. So in came Pead at right back and Taylor at left back Wrack came into midfield and Fox moved into midfield, as Westwood started at centre half. Troy Denny and Mannie Smith were suprise choices on the bench.
In truth we were totally in control in the first half, although Torquays loan stars were always a threat down the flanks. It took Walsall ten minutes for walsall to break through with Trevor Benjamin heading in a left wing cross. Trevor was held back five minutes later, penalty although it was unclear from the away end. Keates put it away for his 11th of the season. Darren Wrack sliced wide from a good position just before the break, if he had scored the second half might have had a different look.
Second half Torquay throw the kitchen sink at us, and we unfortunately defended quite deep and this just invited more pressure. Torquay were fighting for there lives, the stewards were fighting back as they took our balls….Borat was the cause of that I am sure. The pressure was turned up a notch after Ruben Reid turn and shot in for his second in two games, as Torquay went 3-4-3 to force an equaliser. Mark Wright came on to counter attack in the vacant wing, then Mannie Smith came on for his league debut and didn’t do anything wrong. He was shortly followed by Troy Denny who almost scored with his first touch of league football, again did well and this experience will serve them well.
Four minutes of added time was met with disbelief from the travelind 1374 plus Saddlers fans, but in the end it was the saddlers who took the play into Torquay territory to see out another away win.
Defeats for MK Dons and Hartlepool, with Lincoln and Swindon dropping points made it a perfect day.
