Saddlers on Tour-Pub Guide

Last time we went to Hartlepool it was August and I actually camped and enjoyed a pint or two or three in the sunshine outside on Jacksons Wharf Pub. No such warm weather excess this time around. In the warm in front of the fire seems a better option. Perhaps an alcohol fueled snow ball fight on the decking is an option.

So whats the choices like?, plentiful and good is the simple answer. The Victoria Suite near the entrance to the away end is for members only. However at the same end but at the opposite corner, is the ‘Corner Flag Supporters Bar’ that welcomes away fans. They charge an enterance fee it was 50p but I don’t know if inflation has hit Hartlepool yet.The bar has a good pre match atmosphere and SKY TV. As you might have guessed my favorite is the Jackson’s Wharf Pub near the ground. It has good food and real ale on tap. This pub is over the road from the ASDA store, to the left of the old sailing ship museum-kids will love if you need to send the wife someelse other than shopping. Otherwise the ground is not far from the town centre where there are plenty of pubs to be found.

Other recommend The Causeway, which is 15 minutes walk away from the ground. It is located just around the corner from the brewery near the church, real ale and very friendly. Also The Engineers Club five minutes from the ground opposite the police station, just off the town centre is okay, as is the Raglan Club just behind the visitors end. However usual club rules apply regarding entry for these. So it’s back to Jackson Wharf then.
