Walsall FC are to appeal against the straight red card handed to Andy Butler on Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Hartlepool United.

The defender and club captain was given his marching orders in a challenge with Nathan Luscombe, who was also sent off.

However, the Saddlers won’t know if the appeal has been successful until 2pm tomorrow, just 5 hours 45 minutes before kickoff as Sheffield United face Walsall at Bramall Lane.

If the appeal is rejected, Butler faces 3 games on the sidelines. He will join Adam Chambers who has 2 more games suspended after his straight red last Tuesday.

The tackle itself from Butler seemed to have good intentions but poor execution owed to his dismissal. Luscombe being sent off too seemed a little strange but he also came in heavy on the challenge.

I think that there is a possibility of winning the appeal and I hope we do as Butler is such at the heart of the team and very influential.

So we shall see what happens!

Up The Saddlers!
