Dean Smith says he will try to get the best out of Alex Nicholls, after he has started the last two games.

Nicholls, 23, has been a professional with Walsall for 6 seasons, made 153 appearances and scored 17 goals, but has failed to hit the spot as a Saddler.

Smith told the Express and Star:There`s a footballer in there and my job is to get it out there and improve him…he needs to keep improving to remain in the team. When you play up top you are judged on goals and he knows, if he plays there, he needs to score more regularly.”

Nicholls is a lively and enthusiastic player but has not quite got things completely right so far. It’s a waiting game to see if Nicholls can mount a serious challenge for a starting position with Macken, Grigg and Jarvis akk vying for spots.

We wait to see how Nicholls season will turn out!

Go get em’ Alex!

Up The Saddlers!
