Dean Smith has said that he will wait a bit longer before deciding on the starting lineup for the 2011/2012 league opener against Leyton Orient next Saturday.

Saddlers have undergone a transformation in the last few weeks and the gaffer is yet to decide on his starting eleven.

Smith has hinted there may be a behind closed doors friendly, as well as a full weeks training before he makes up his mind.

He chose a mixture of new players and originals for yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Port Vale and was pleased with the performance.

Smith told the Birmingham Mail: ‘I was pleased with the way we moved the ball, particularly in the first-half when we created quite a few chances….apart from conceding a poor goal, I was happy with how it went.’

Smith has certainly created a decent squad of players to choose from with his range of contacts and experience.

It’s getting so close and Smith has some thinking to do but hopefully he’ll make a winning side to kick off the new season in style!

Up The Saddlers!
